- The first player starts with a card and subsequent players follow up to 15 avocados in sequence, then return to an avocado and so on. If a card matches the number that is said in that turn, then it's a smash! All players must squeeze their hands in the middle of the table and the last player reacting takes all the cards from the center.
- In the Avocado Smash deck there are a couple of special cards. The first is a SMASH card! This means that it is an automatic smash and the last player to react must collect all the cards. The next card is Guacamole paper. When this card is revealed, all players must shout "GUACAMOLE!". The last player to react must collect the middle cards. However, if a player crushes a Guacamole card, they must collect all cards
- The last card is a change of direction card and when it is revealed you must change direction immediately. This change remains until the end of the shift or until another Change of Direction card is revealed. The first player to get rid of all the cards is the winner of Avocado Smash, as long as he survives the next smash! If two players run out of cards at the same time, the first one who reacts to the next smash wins!
